ITINERARY AT A GLANCE
Start Nairobi / End Nairobi
This luxury safari flies you from modern Nairobi to the wilds of Samburu and Maasai Mara, where you’ll encounter hundreds of animals, including the iconic Big Five game. If luck is on our side, we may even experience the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
A quick flight and we arrive mid-day at Samburu National Reserve, one of Kenya’s greatest safari destinations. In the distance, rolling mountains glimmer in the sun’s haze and the sun-baked savannah meets the horizon’s infinity. If this picturesque landscape looks familiar, think back – back to the award-winning British drama Born Free, which was filmed at this national reserve.
After lunch, it’s all aboard for an afternoon game drive. On this exciting first-of-firsts, meet the African bush – and hopefully, some of the mighty wildlife that inhabit it. Scan the horizon for lions, zebras, elephants and giraffes, not to mention Samburu’s own “Special Big 5”: the rare and magnificent Beisaoryx, gerenuk, Grévy’s zebra, Samburu ostrich, and reticulated giraffe (Somali giraffe).

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve
Our early morning game drive is straight out of glossy travel brochures: we’ll explore Kenya’s awesome landscape in a pop-up vehicle, perfect for game viewing. It’s time to peel your eyes and sharpen those binoculars in search of big game, big sights and big excitement.
Delicious dining and leisure hours later, we’re back for an afternoon game drive until dusk. Our wheels kick up dust as we motor down the road, adding a hazy, ethereal quality to the scenery that surrounds. We’re on the lookout for Africa’s big cats – lions, cheetahs and elusive leopards – as well as kudu, gazelles, warthogs, impala, waterbuck and Kirk’s dik-dik.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Maasai Mara Game Reserve
A short flight fast-tracks us from one Kenyan jewel to another: a safari classic and the cradle of a centuries-old culture – the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. En route from the airport, we cut through the picturesque Great Rift Valley for mid-morning game drive through Maasai Mara.
This incredible reserve is the world’s most famous safari destination, and today you discover why, as the Kenyan bush unfolds before your very eyes. A mother lion and her cubs meander down the road; the savannah grasses shimmer and a massive black rhinoceros emerges; a giraffe lopes by, almost close enough to touch. Breathe in the sultry air – the scent and taste of Africa. And if you haven’t had enough, not to worry – we’ll be back in the afternoon for a second game drive!
Dinner and overnight at SarovaMara Game Camp.
Day 4: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
In Maasai Mara, the sun doesn’t peek over the horizon – it explodes in a burst of orange, gold and red. This morning, we’re up with the sunrise for a morning game drive into one of the planet’s most diverse habitats. The open bush, cool rivers and scattered trees house more than 450 species of animals.
Look around, squint against the sunlight. Do you see that in the distance? That’s Maasai wildlife, and the reason we’re here. Maasai Mara’s intrigue centres around two focal points: the famed Big Five and The Great Migration. Africa’s Big Five game –the African buffalo, bush elephant, black rhinoceros, leopard, and lion – are the five most imposing, dangerous animals on the continent. And for several months a year, Maasai Mara also hosts the Eighth Wonder of the World: The Great Wildebeest migration, when millions of gnu stamped the plains in search of fresh pasture and shelter.

Day 5: Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Nairobi
This morning, you wake up with a choice: shall you fly like a bird or take to the plains like a leopard? An optional balloon safari departs just after sunrise, when the morning’s muted tones paint the savannah in soft colors. As you soar toward the clouds, you’ll enjoy a birds-eye view as the bush awakens: giraffes dance through the grass, lions roar to consciousness and elephants parade across the horizon – a picture perfect moment.
After breakfast, we’ll head out on a morning game drive. Catch a glimpse of wildlife as we rarely see it, eyes lazy from sleep and hungry for the first meal of the day. It’s another morning in this ancient valley.
We’ll take a short flight back to Nairobi, where you’ll arrive in time for an afternoon flight or overnight in the big city. Your driver will take you to your Nairobi hotel or the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
