Welcome to Kenya, the land of peace, love, natural beauty and endless amenities. There is a lot to do and see while in the country and your safari will undoubtedly be a lifetime experience of leisure and pleasure.
However, before you make that trip to this exciting country, here is a first timer’s guide on what not to do while on a Kenyan safari.
1. Feeding the animals – visiting the animal parks is always a must do for everyone who visits Kenya. However, as much as it sounds fun, feeding the wild animals is against the rules and regulations of all national parks.
2 . Straying alone from the campsites – always be aware of the wild animals and keep off from restricted areas.
3. Drinking untreated water – your health comes first. So, do not drink tap water. We recommend that you buy bottled water at your hotel or at any nearby supermarket.
4. Leaving your valuables unattended – always keep your personal belongings in a safe. Do not walk around with large amounts of money and do not leave your stuff in the car either.
5. Going on game drives without a map – a map is your only way out if you get lost, especially if you are on a drive without a tour guide. Be sure to take one with you.
6. Noise – Do not run or make noise while in the parks. A lot of movement and sound can really be a nuisance to the animals. This will not only annoy them, but it will also send them into hiding.
7. Photography – do not take photographs of the local people without their permission. You should also not take photographs of any state building while in the country.
Currency exchange – do not exchange money on the streets. You have to be aware of conmen and hustlers. Always exchange your money in the bank or Forex Bureau.
