Mombasa is a city in the Kenyan coast. It is one of the places to visit when you want a relaxed and fun yet educative safari. Apart from visiting the beach there are several other things to do during a visit to Mombasa. See them below.
Visit Fort Jesus
Fort Jesus is a historical museum in Mombasa. It is opened everyday for visitors at a small fee. There guides in Mombasa who are ready to direct tourists to Fort Jesus as long as you pay them a small fee as well. Fort Jesus is famous for being used as a prison cell and torture room for slaves who were held captive by Portuguese. It was built in 1593. The slaves were held there and later shipped away.
A walk in the Old Town
The Old Town in Mombasa is an ancient Arabic town setting. The town was built back in the days in Arabic designs with very narrow streets separating the rich architectural buildings. The buildings are old yet quite admirable and a walk in the narrow streets is like a walk in the past future. The buildings are today used as curio shops where you can buy beautiful fabrics, ornaments and antiques.
‘Interact’ with crocodiles
Mamba (Swahili word for crocodile) Village is located in Nyali, Mombasa. It is one of the largest crocodile farms in E. Africa. If you have always wanted to see crocodiles but fear getting attacked by them, this is a good place to fight this fear and fulfill your desire. The crocodiles are kept in an enclosure where you can view and feed them without them reaching to you. It is always exciting to watch them fight for food during feeding time. If you are traveling with your kids, there is a playground set for them to enjoy kids’ activities during the visit.
Relax at Mama Ngina Drive
